Ron Laney

Ron Laney enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps in January 1964, serving for over six years, including a tour in Vietnam. In August 1969, while serving near An Hoa, Vietnam, Laney was wounded during a combat operation.

Along with the Purple Heart, SSgt Laney was awarded numerous medals and commendations during his service, including the Combat Action Medal, the Good Conduct medal with star, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, and more.

U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Ron Laney was Virginia's honoree during the 2023 Purple Heart Patriot Project Mission.
