On Saturday, August 19 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. legendary Hudson Valley musical groups will reunite for an exclusive one-day performance at the Silk Factory, 299 Washington Street in Newburgh. Those set to perform include: Jerry Ebert, The Bush Brothers, Craig Ellis, Lenny Frank & the Rhythm Rockers, The Go, Doctor Magkneetoe Medicine Show. Proceeds from the concert will go to the National Purple Heart Honor Mission, which works to salute America’s combat wounded and those killed in action in service to our nation.

PRESS RELEASE: This Veterans Day, Nominations Open for National Purple Heart Tribute

The National Purple Heart Honor Mission announced today that it has opened the nomination process for its 2023 Purple Heart Patriot Project. This moving multi-day salute to service will bring together Purple Heart heroes from across America to pay tribute to their courage and sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation.

Anyone can nominate a Purple Heart recipient by completing the nomination form on the Honor Mission’s website: www.purpleheartmission.org/patriot-project. Nominations should include a short description (up to 350 words) of why their hero is deserving of this special recognition and should focus not only on their military service but their post-military life including community service, charitable work and career.

Nominations will be accepted until December 31. Nominees may not be self-nominated.

Military Times: Recipients look back at their service on National Purple Heart Day

“Today we come together to honor the service and sacrifice of those great Americans on National Purple Heart Day, and recommit ourselves to ensuring a whole new generation of Americans remember their courage and never forget,” said retired Army Col. Russ Vernon, the organization’s executive director, during the ceremony. Vernon served from 1976 until retiring in 2004 from the Army National Guard.
