Doyle Charles Bailey
Doyle Charles Bailey was born February 21, 1925, in Plummerville, Arkansas, to Levi Anderson and Wilma Agnes Bailey. He was the couple’s third of six children.
Doyle went on to serve his country as a member of the Army Infantry during World War II.
On September 11, 1944, Private First Class Bailey, a member of the Medical Detachment, 362nd Infantry Regiment, was wounded at North Apennines, near Florence, Italy. Along with his Purple Heart, PFC Bailey was awarded several medals including the European-African Middle Eastern Theater and two Bronze Stars.
As a young man Doyle was a farmer in Arkansas and he later moved to Memphis, TN. He retired from the Naval Air Station at Millington with 37 years as an electronics mechanic and electrician.
