Nathaniel Loomis
Nathaniel Loomis enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard in 1998, and later attended the United States Military Academy from 2002 to 2004. He commissioned to Warrant Officer in the Idaho Army National Guard in 2016, where he is currently serving with B Co, 145th BSB, 116th CBCT.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom III (OIF III), in April 2005, Loomis was wounded while working in a 5Ton truck when an incoming mortar attack began. During the attack, an 85mm mortar round struck the top of the truck and detonated, blowing a hole in the roof and sending shrapnel flying throughout the vehicle. Along with his Purple Heart, CW3 Loomis was awarded numerous medals and commendations during his service, including the Bronze Star Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with two stars.
Following his service during OIF II, also deployed during Operation New Dawn (2010 – 2011) and Operation Spartan Shield (2021 – 2022).
Idaho Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3) Nathaniel Loomis represented his fellow Purple Heart heroes as Idaho’s honoree during the 2023 Purple Heart Patriot Project Mission.
