Michael Bostwick

Michael Bostwick was with the 3/503rd , 173rd during his first deployment to Vietnam.

According to Michael, “We arrived in Vietnam on the 28th of Oct 1967. I was a team leader in Company C 3/503rd 173 Airborne Bde. ( Sept). On March 16th, 1968 my unit was fighting on a hill near  Kon-tum . I was hit on the upper left side of my chest by small arms fire and was Med evacuated to a B med unit at Kon-tum. On the 20th of March 1968 while at B med my first Sergeant came by and informed me that my unit was still fighting and had not taken the hill yet. I then got on the next flight back to my unit and that afternoon I wounded again in both legs and then med evacuated to the 71 hospital at Pla-ku . I retuned to my unit two months later and departed Viet-nam on Oct. 27th 1968.”

Michael went on to serve a second tour in 1970-1971. He retired in January 1986 from 2nd Ranger Company , Ranger Department , Fort Benning (now Fort Moore), Ga.
