Albany Times Union: Duty Calls - Purple Heart recipient represents state during tribute

A former Albany Marine recruiter and Vietnam War veteran  has been chosen to be one of the nation’s 2021 Purple Heart Patriot Project honorees. 

Marine Staff Sgt. Oliver Hickok of Moriah, a former Albany resident, is a two-time Purple Heart recipient who  represented  his fellow Purple Heart heroes from New York state at a multi-day tribute to the courage and sacrifice of American’s combat wounded. The Purple Heart Patriot Project is a program of the National Purple Heart Honor Mission.
